The Original "Big BLU" Power Hammer was conceived, engineered, and produced by an artist blacksmith, for artist blacksmiths.
Its innovative yet elegantly simple design allows the power hammer to be compact; easily approachable-front, right, and left; versatile; cost effective, both to purchase and operate and no springs or flaying arms to break or duck.
Installation of Big BLU Max
- Big BLU Max hammers require removing the cylinder to pass through standard 7'3" personnel doors.
- No special foundation preparation needed thanks to the large anvil.
In fact it will operate effectively on a level dirt floor.
What is needed to install:
- We recommend a 2-3 ft. flexible braided air line or equivalent.
- A torque wrench (clicker style) w/ .25" Allen hex key wrench.
- (2) Tubes of silicon calking to put under base between base and the concrete.
- (4) 1/2" x 3" Concrete anchors or pins to secure hammer in place.
- Adequate air supply for the hammer. We recommend an industrial duty 2 stage air compressor.
- Max 110 requires at least 17 CFM.
The Big Blu Max 110 will run well on a 5 hp 2 stage commercial duty air compressor with 100% duty cycle in a novice style shop.
In a professional production style shop we would recommend a 7 ½ hp 2 stage commercial duty air compressor with 100% duty cycle.
The hammer will run well at 17 cfm’s at 140 psi, but the more air you can supply to the hammer the more efficient it will run.
- Max 155 requires at least 21 CFM.
The Big Blu Max 155 will run well on a 7 ½ hp 2 stage commercial duty air compressor with 100% duty cycle in a novice style shop.
In a professional production style shop we would recommend a 10 hp 2 stage commercial duty air compressor with 100% duty cycle.
The hammer will run well at 21 cfm’s at 140 psi, but the more air you can supply to the hammer the more efficient it will run.
Daily Maintenance
- Lubricate guides.
- Drain water trap.
- Check pneumatic oiler level.
